High Strength Geotextiles
HSG's are a high-modulus reinforcement material, which can also be combined with a nonwoven.
HSG's are manufactured from modern synthetics with low creep and elongation properties to suit any kind of application. Longitudinal and transverse yarns are joined together by a binding thread into a raschel knitted construction.
The advantage of this method of manufacture is that the load carrying elements run in perfectly straight lines so the HSG's are able to carry loads with very low elongation.
HSG's can be installed over soft soils to allow for construction of embankments and levees. HSG's provide the soil structure with tensile reinforcement that results in less differential settlement and greater overall stability. In areas of very soft soils, HSG'ss can be sewn into large panels to separate clean fill soils from poor subgrades.
It is also possible to install vertical wick drains to draw water from the underlying foundation soil to expedite the consolidation process and reduce settlement periods.
Features
- Industrial Fabrics develops tension at low strain when its high-tenacity polyester yarns are placed in a linear manner. This allows immediate soil-to-geotextile strength required in reinforced soil structures.
- HSG's are available in tensile strengths ranging from 200-6000 lb/in.
- HSG's are manufactured in 12 and 16.4 feet wide rolls which reduces waste and simplifies installation.
- HSG's provide superior seam strength for applications where a continuous panel of reinforcement is desired.
- HSG's can be produced to exact engineering or contract specifications.
 Typical Applications
Berm and Underwater Applications
Dike, break-water and levee berms, basins and landfill linings, coastal erosion protection, fill containment and reinforcement of beds or slopes affected by water movement.
Caps Over Soft Fill
Strengthening of soft dredged soils or waste impoundments that allow a protective soil cover to be placed on top of the infill material.
Base Reinforcement
Traffic area on soft ground, foundation plates.
